Play rules

When the simulator starts a player’s turn he will go through the hand and find the card that has the highest play priority and play that card (if it wants to be played). This play priority is static for most cards, but can change in some cases. When the card is then played, the individual code of the card will take over. Sometimes this is simple. In Laboratory’s case their are no decisions to be made, but other times the decisions are difficult like Chapel or Remodel… I did my best to emulate human decisions for these complex cards, but you’ll notice in the sample games that the simulator makes bad choices. The cards that involve these non-trivial choices are grouped under this play rules page so you see what’s happening under the hood (the trivial cards are not mentioned).

As explained in the “How it works” page each card has a Play priority number, a discard priority number and a trash priority number (which is mostly equal to the discard priority number except for the green cards).
